This course will introduce you to the process of cleaning with the purpose of disinfection. Whether you are working as a professional cleaner, or cleaning your home dwelling, understanding how to properly engage in cleaning procedures using cleaning products and disinfectants can keep you safe from microorganisms that cause various illnesses, including COVID-19.
You will learn about the basics of infectious agents, such as viruses and bacteria, transmission and contamination sources, personal protective equipment (PPE), different types of cleaning tools, equipment and disinfectants, and procedures for cleaning, sanitation and disinfection for infection prevention and control.
This course is suitable for individuals who want to gain a better understanding of antiviral and antimicrobial cleaning and disinfection procedures, practices, tools, and equipment. It is ideal for building service/custodial workers who wish to up-skill.
Concepts will be taught through a blend of direct instruction, activities/demonstrations, and multimedia such as videos.
This course is delivered through instructor-supported sessions in a fully-online format using video-conferencing and online learning platforms, such as Zoom and Moodle.
